We congratulate Dr. Gábor Erdős, associate professor of the Department of Manufacturing Science and Engineering and senior research fellow of the Engineering and Management Intelligence Laboratory of MTA SZTAKI, who was awarded jointly with Dr. Takahiro Nakano from Hitachi Yokohama Research Laboratory (YRL) the 2017 Technology Award of the Japan Society for Precision Engineering (JSPE). Their honoured work supports reconstructing the model of complex engineering objects from three dimensional measurement data, so-called point clouds. The internationally patented results are applied now at elevator renewal and construction sites.
Earlier, Gábor Erdős had received for the same achievement the 2016 Academy-Patent Award of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
One Technology Award is granted every year by JSPE that was established in 1933 and has now around 5500 members. Its 2017 Technology Award was personally handed over by Dr. Shigetoshi Sameshima, Hitachi YRL, General Manager, and Dr. Yoshiteru Katsumura, Hitachi YRL, Production Systems Research, Department Manager on 13 October, 2017.
